A collection of reticella lace patterns from the publications of Matteo Pagano (1515-1588):
Giardineto novo di punti tagliati et gropposi per exercitio & ornamento delle donne, 1544, 1550;
Ornamento delle belle & virtuose donne, 1544, 1550, 1554;
Spechio di pensieri delle belle et virtudiose donne, 1544, 1546.

These lace pattern designs are beautiful and useful on their own but are especially important as examples of the bridge between the early pattern books of embroidery and the further transformation of lace through the development of punto in aria as shown in later works.
